Barnacle
Another UT2003 model! Barnacle is working with the same theme as Beluga, so I tried to keep the polycounts similar, but with the added arms (requiring more detail than Beluga's fins) it end up to around 2600. Still very reasonable though, I think. Again, original animations were a must, and with the four-armed thing going on I took a bit of inspiration from Virtual On's Grys-Vok character with the gun position. The remaining arms are free to move around quite a bit, and I really like a lot of his animations. Again with this one, I did a portrait illustration, but this time I think it really outshines the model, and I wish I'd done a bit more designing before I went ahead and modeled him. I actually considered bigger, claw-like mandibles but ended up figuring I'd save the polygons and do the small low-detail ones. I'm fairly pleased with the look in game, and (as you can see) in the proper lighting his chest kinda matches the illustration even though it's colored lighter than the rest of him.
