I had a hard time coming up with a title image for the site, and this seemed as good as any. It had to be something brand-spanking new, kinda representative, and most importantly something that looked nice on the front.. I'm sure I'll swap it out for something else sooner or later but until then... I made this late at night so I'm surprised it turned out decently, though as usual when I woke up the next day it didn't look nearly as good. I'd been trying to produce something quickly with a less "painted" look to it, but with morning's clarity I found it seemed to flat and uninteresting. Luckily, I simply cropped off the top and bottom and found that the image was exciting to me again, so good deal there eh? The lettering on the shield was delibately done by hand (you can't see most of it now)--I could have made it cleaner and more easily with a font tool, but I didn't want it to clash with the obviously hand-drawn look of the image. If I'm gonna hold line-quality in low regard I'd better at least be consistant about it!
